Where Dreams Began
Lee, Connie Hollatz is the 6th picture in the top row.
Marilyn, thanks! I knew her right away when I saw her. but if you hadn't told me her name I would still be puzzled. Sad to say there are other faces for which I don't have names. Phil Johnson looks like he's 12. (Maybe he is in this shot?)
Seems like a lot of kids are missing; Larry Holstad, Chuck Helgeland, Billy Roberts, Julie, Serena, Ann B, Jane Pacey, to name just a few??
This was probably half the class. There was a Mr Hyland who could have been associated with that group. Plus, remember Serena was still in Kensett.
A note regarding Mr. Gilmann....His sister-in-law lives here in Lake Mills and is a friend of ours. She arranged to have a surprise lunch for Don w/some of his former students who live closeby. He was totally shocked to see us at the restaurant and we had a great time reminiscing of his teaching days at N-K. He asked personally about several students and recalled many of the ones I mentioned, after all these years. I think he has a special spot in his heart for his years at N-K - it's where he met his wife, Miss Bergland, who taught elementary school. They now live in Oregon and enjoy beach life and whale watching. He still looks the same and has the same quiet demeanor. We agreed to meet again next year when he comes back here for a visit.
